Experience has shown us that having the skills and tools to create cakes is not enough to run a successful business, every business owner must have the skills and tools to create a business if they want to be profitable.
By working really hard
This is what we do, and yeah, we worked really hard to get it off the ground. With over 10 years experience as a cake business, we have learnt a thing or two about running a cake business. When we transited our passion project to a business, we knew that we needed to charge appropriately – to make enough to cover our true costs, pay our staff, pay ourselves, keep the lights on and pay our business forward – to cover things like marketing, overheads and also make a profit.
At every stage of growing Blé Couture Cakes; from hobby stage, to initial business registration and set up, growing our portfolio and client base, moving our business from home to a shop and now being a recognised brand, we found that our passion to be creative pushed us to greater heights.
Oh, and playing hard too
Having the privilege to love what we do and to do what we love is our greatest drive. We continue to improve ourselves as individuals, improve our minds to create better, improve our skills to design better, and stretch out our arms to give further. We know that to succeed and grow, every cake business owner must develop themselves along side their business.
In my next life, I will come back as a chandelier. I have created hanging cakes, upside down cakes, cakes that bling, naked cakes, 3D cakes, the lot! If I am not to create cakes – then I will be a large tiered crystal chandelier, ‘cos I know I was born to shine!… Madame Blé
